April's meeting should be of great value to everyone! The economic hardships we are all facing is forcing desperate people to do even more desperate things to survive. This past weekend I was in a resturant with my Mom and the rest of our family. Her credit card was declined. Never should have happened! The security breach on the credit card was picked up before we knew there was a problem, thank goodness. This case of identity theft being caught so quickly may not and probably doesn't happen so often. Did you know . . . Identity theft is the top consumer complaint reported to the Federal Trade Commission? And, what’s worse, it has held that number one position for the last several years. Identity theft isn’t just related to credit Cards? Actually, identity thieves also use the identities they’ve stolen to secure loans, bank accounts, driver’s licenses, obtain medical services, gain employment, set-up telephone service and much more. Rick Christiana, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist Independent Associate will be explaining how to avoid being a victim of Identity Theft.

RIWN Meeting for February Pat Hastings is our new speaker for this month. This is winter everyone's plans have been changed because of the weather. RIWN has had to change our speaker, not due to the weather but scheduling conflicts.

Christmas is upon us. Our thoughts are with our families and loved ones. This month the RIWN would like to share our good fortunes with a less fortunate family. Though Adopt-A-Family we have been selected to help a three child family have a wonderful Christmas by providing clothes and toys for their holidays. Our meeting will be our usual networking and brief business meeting. We will then "Wrap Up The Year" by wrapping up the presents for our family and talk about the meetings that we will be having in the New Year. Please come equipped to do some wrapping for our "Wrap Up The Year" party by bring some wrapping paper or bows to decorate the presents. We will also need some tape and scissors. The month of October is Breast Cancer Month. As so many women know of friends or family members that have had Breast Cancer our November meeting will be a celebration of Breast Cancer Survivors. We will have a panel of women that have had various forms of breast cancer. They will be discussing their doctors and what they have had to endure. Some of discussion will be about their treatments. Some have had surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, while others have chosen a holistic approach. They will talk about their journeys back to health. Let’s enjoy their company and celebrate their lives with them.
