About the Lecture:

Before investing time and money into a business it is important to have the clearest possible picture of what you're getting into. Do you know how to analyze business opportunities? Can you tell a good opportunity from a bad opportunity? In this workshop, you will be introduced to several practical ways to analyze business opportunities which will allow you to better distinguish good ones from bad ones.

About Professor:

Dr. Jan Smolarski is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Texas. Prior to joining the University of Texas, he was Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Finance at the University of Stockholm, Sweden. He has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, and an MBA from Texas A&M University and a PhD from the University of North Texas. Dr. Smolarski is also a Certified Public Accountant.

His research interests are managerial accounting and entrepreneurship. In addition to his academic experience from teaching in Sweden and the US, Professor Smolarski has worked as an operations and management consultant at Coca Cola, ICI, 39, Fresenisu, Motorola, China Telecom and various other companies. He currently serves on the Board of several companies.

He has served as a visiting professor at business schools throughout the world, including Shanghai University (China), State University of New York (USA), MIB School of Management (Italy), American University of Bulgaria (Bulgaria), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Ruon School of Management (France), University of Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein), International Banking Institute (Russia) and at various other universities in Europe and the United States.
